Administration Fees: “You Must Pay An Administration Fee To Rent.” Many self storage facilities require a $10-$25 administration fee. They’ll tell you that this is for entering your information into a computer database; their self storage software takes care of the rest. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to pay an administration fee. At Bonita Storage Inn we do not charge an administration fee.
Insurance: “We Require You To Purchase Insurance From Us.” The National Association of Insurance Commissioners states that even though items in a storage unit are not physically in your home, your homeowner’s policy may help protect those items (“off premises” items) from certain hazards. Homeowners insurance typically includes personal property coverage, which may include protection from certain risks for clothing, appliances, electronics, and furniture. These items are covered only up to the coverage limits on your policy. Keep in mind that It is critical that you check with your insurance agency to verify exactly how much coverage you have for “off-premises” items. All of that being said, we do offer insurance, but we will never sell you anything that you don’t need. The only time we recommend self-storage insurance is when our prospective tenants are currently not insured.
Deposits: “We require a deposit on your unit.” At Bonita Storage Inn, we ask you to sweep your unit and clear all of your belongings out when you terminate your storage with us, but we do not require a deposit. If you trust our facility as a good place to store all of your belongings, we trust you to care for our facility when you move out.
Deliveries: “We cannot accept deliveries” or “We charge to accept deliveries.” There is no reason not to provide this service to you for free. At Bonita Storage Inn, we accept and hold packages at your direction. If you need the extra service of placing deliveries into your unit, we are happy to do it at no extra charge.
Inexpensive Rent: “We have the least expensive rent in the area.” Be careful with this one. The price may seem right, but you do not know if they have chicken wire separating the units or corrugated steel? Do they have one security camera at the gate, or 32? Do they have regularly scheduled pest control? Do they have individual door alarms on each and every unit? Do they have controlled gate access? We offer all of this and more. Even though we have amenities that other facilities do not, we are competitive on rent.
